My name is Karina Magallanes and I am a graduate student at California State University, Long Beach in the midst of completing my Master in School Counseling. As a first-generation college student, I graduated from California State University, Los Angeles in 2017 with a B.A. in Psychology. My passion to become a school counselor has greatly been influenced through life experiences and working directly with youth and families. I aspire to become a professional school counselor who will be a system of support for all students, while ensuring all students’ social, emotional, and career needs are met. My goal is that all students are advocated for, are treated fairly, have access to all services and supports, and are successful.

Hello! My name is Aitana Pecero and I am a graduate student at USC in the final year of completing my Masters in Social Work. I graduated from CSUF in 2019 with my bachelors in Sociology and minor in Child and Adolescent Development. I believe every child and youth has the ability to be successful, both educationally/care-wise and in life, with the proper support in place; which is why I aspire to become a school social worker. I look forward to being that support system at Southeast Academy!

Hi, my name is Jose Cortez and I am the new high school bridge liaison for Cerritos College. I started my journey at East Los Angeles College and transferred to California State University, Los Angeles as a Psychology major. As a first-generation college student, I struggled to navigate the higher education system. With the help of counselors and the resources community college had to offer, I got the social support needed to strive and continue my education. I recently graduated from the University of Southern California pursuing a degree in educational counseling. My passion is to help students of all backgrounds and help them fulfill their academic aspirations.
