Congresswomen Linda Sanchez

Congresswomen Linda Sanchez addressed interested students at Southeast Academy High School on what it takes to earn an appointment to one of the five service academies. Service academies rank among the top colleges in the nation. Cadets and midshipmen at America's service academies accept a lifestyle that is both unique and demanding. Though they differ in terms of their history and mission, the military academies have more in common than people realize. The service academies all offer a rigorous four-year program. The focus is on developing leaders to serve our Nation in peace and during conflict.
After watching The 5-Pointed Star video cadets were able to talk and ask questions to the service representatives. This was a great day for Southeast Academy and the community of interested students and families.

Golden Bear West Coast National Drill Meet

Performing at the National Drill Meet is equal to a C.I.F. Championship. Cadet's earned nine trophies, eight medals and the respect from the other 47 teams. For their efforts cadet's earned First place in Color Guard, Inspection and an overall sweep-stakes trophy. Also earning trophies in Regulation Drill, and for the first time our JV Armed Team won First Place in Armed Exhibition. (Amazing!) Our teams worked very hard to earn drill awards. But what impressed the Judges and Parents the most was, during our half-time Ms. Johnson AP Calculus class took time to study for their up-coming AP Test. Ms Johnson had cadets travel to the drill meet so they can be included in the study session. Thank you to our Teachers, Staff, and Parents for maintaining an environment that is positive, producing achievements in academics, leadership and related activities. Great Team effort by all ! Cyber Safety Alert!!

There is an app out there known as Ogle that everyone needs to be aware of. Essentially, Ogle is an app that allows anyone to “anonymously” post anything that they want about any school they choose – including ours. Schools across the nation are reporting inappropriate posts on Ogle that vary between cyber bullying of other students, nudity and drug use photos being published and shaming of classmates, administrators and staff. There are other apps out there like this; however, Ogle seems to be the most popular right now.

We are asking for parents to take steps to ensure that their students do not have the Ogle app on their phone, and that they do not access it. We are also asking parents to have discussions with their students about using the internet and social media websites appropriately.

Please click the headline for a link to a great video about the Ogle app that includes important steps that both parents and students should take to protect themselves from it.

Please contact us if you have any questions.
